2025 OPEN DIVISION GUIDELINES
JUGGERNAUT DIVISION (2004 & younger)
This division is open to all players born in 2004 & younger. Our goal is to also have a AAA and AA level in this division.
Residency rules: a player may play for the state/province/country they live in full time or where are living for school or hockey.. If a player has moved since the last State Wars event they participated in, they may still play for the home state they previously played with. However, once a player plays for the new state they live in they must continue to do so unless they move again. Goalies are the one position that may live out of state/province if necessary. This rule applies for All open divisions.

SELECT SENIOR (17 & older)
Senior AA, and A/B levels are available
Senior AA : is an advanced division for teams that are strong tournament teams that have players that are on the cusp of playing in the pro division or have played in it.
HERE ARE NEW UPDATED RULES FOR SENIOR AA
- Every team has ONE (1) open roster spot that can be used for a PRO Player (this means a player on a roster for that current State Wars PAMA Pro Invitational division).
- This roster spot will not have any residency restrictions on it. So a Senior AA team from Wisconsin may use this roster spot by a player who lives outside of Wisconsin.
- If a team rosters a PRO player that fulfills their one open roster spot and cannot also add an out of state player. It is one or the other.
- A team doesn’t have to use this spot for a current Pro player but can just select to use any player outside of their home state.
- Goalies : as always goalies do NOT have to live in the same state as the team. But if the goalie selected is a rostered PAMA Pro player, that player will count as the one open roster spot for the team.
- Example A : Team NY uses Kevin Dwyer (who lives in Colorado) but is rostered in the PAMA Pro for the Mission Labeda Snipers. The Team NY cannot add any other Pro or out of state players to their roster.
- Example B : Team NY uses Zack Lane (who lives in Illinois) as their goalie but he is NOT rostered on a PAMA Pro roster, then they can also use Joey DiMartino who is rostered for the Tour Road Runners as their Pro player.
When filling out your team roster, captains must make note who the player they are using for this ONE open roster spot is. This rule is in place to add more competitiveness amongst more teams to this division and have everyone on an equal recruiting field.
Senior A/B : is for more intermediate level travel teams. Teams will start in one HUGE A/B division. All teams will qualify for the playoffs with a % advancing to the A playoffs and the other % advancing to the B playoffs. Teams will then play towards separate A and B championships!
Players that are playing in the Pro Division or Senior AA cannot play in Senior A/B. Goalies can be an exception (Please talk to our office about that).

The 45 & Over division is for players born in 1980 or before (goalie must be at least 35 years old) (female players must be 40+)
The 55 & Over division is for players born in 1970 or before (goalie must be at least 45 years old.). *as this is a new division, we will allow a team to roster a maximum of (2) players that are 50 years of age or older (born in 1975 or before), not including the goalie.* (female players must be 45+)
The birth year dictates if a player is eligible to play, so as long as a player is age eligible that year (even after the tourney date) they can still play.

SPECIAL NOTES
The goal of each team is to field the strongest possible state team based on the structured rules and regulations set forth. This format will allow for an even playing field. Teams typically made up of star players from several different states will not be permitted to participate and therefore every team has a fair chance to win. This format encourages players in each state to work together towards a common goal.
- All players MUST live in the State/Province they are playing for. See the General Info page for the residency requirements. (see above notes on residency rules as well)
- Players 35 years of age or older may play in both Select Senior and Select Masters divisions if able.
- Female players may play in both a youth division (if selected at their State Tryout) and the Select Girls or Women's division if able.
- If any player is interested in a spot on either a Select Junior, Select Senior, Select Women's or Select Masters team please email the State Wars Hockey office and we will forward your info to the state franchise representative.
